Working from home

WORKING FROM HOME FOR LONGER

Working from home has become the new normal but is it working for you?

WFH has great benefits like being able to save money, cook your own food, less time spent commuting to work which are all great benefits, but there definitely can be some disadvantages.

Usually in your workplace you desk would be ergonomically assessed and set up just for you, this helps to make sure the time you spend at your desk is comfortable and best suited to you and your body.

It is also much easier to know the barriers of work and social life when you go to an office and not in your living room, working from home can lead you to work continuously without having a break and not being able to make a barrier between starting and finishing work and switching off to do things for yourself.

Our Working From Home Tips

  1. Move

If you can get up from your working space every hour and move. It can simply be to get up and walk around your flat, any type of movement is better than hours of prolonged sitting, it will help you physically and mentally if you have a long day ahead⁣.

  2. Screens

All screens should be at eye level, if you are using a laptop try to place it onto a stand so that it is at eye level, if you are using more than 1 screen try to make them relatively even in position and depending on usage make sure the dominant screen is the one ahead, you don't want to have to constantly be turning your neck to one side

  3. Chair

Try to make sure you have a supportive chair, that feels comfortable for you. If needed you can place a pillow behind your back to give some extra support ⁣

  4. Balance

Working from home makes it more difficult to seperate your social/home life from work life and can lead you to working all hours of the day.⁣ If possible set a time when you are going to stop working, similar to when you would leave the office and stop work and focus on yourself. ⁣

  5. Hydrate

Keep hydrated throughout the day, we advise getting only a small glass of water at a time, so it gives you the opportunity to get up from your desk to fill it up ⁣
